Beauty For Ashes...

"...beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor." Isaiah 61:3

33 weeks

Here is a new picture of Tubby! :) Haven't taken one of these in a long while- but want to have it on record for Ezra one day.
He is still one active boy. I'm sure we're in for a treat! He was awake A LOT last night. I think he was excited about Easter like his parents. Chris and I have enjoyed watching him at night when I get in the bed. It's just so crazy to look at your belly and see it moving all on it's own. THEN seeing in one little spot it raise WAAAAY up. We just sit, marvel, and laugh quite a bit.
I have a friend here that is pregnant with her 10th child (not a typo) and I was hanging out with her the other night. She was saying that most babies gain at least a pound the last 4ish weeks. Her advice was for me to watch my carbs. Well, unfortunately, my latest (probably past 2 weeks) craving is toast with jam and homemade bread. Every time I walk past the jam section at the grocery- I begin to salivate for a piece of toast! I also eat cereal like it's going out of style. The thing is, cereal is SOOOO expensive here. I have broken down once and bought a $6.50 box of Raisin Bran, but only once because I was desperate! I search Nairobi for the expired cereals. You can usually get those really cheap. You talk about one EXCITED person when I find them. Last week I found frosted Mini Wheats and this week I found Honey bunches of Oats, Frosted Flakes, and something like cheerios. Weeeeeeee!!!!!
So... hope this whole carb- cut-down thing goes well for me...

Tubby Thompson

Monday

Tuesday CT and I go get blood work, ultrasound, tour the "Princess Zara Suite" where Ezra will likely be born. We will also give our down payment and fill out about an hours worth of paperwork. Our former Street Boys are staying with us all week but have a 3 day bible study from 8am-4pm for the next 3 days. So we will drop them off and get an early start on our day. Chris has a meeting at 1pm- so we'll need to be finished by then.

Of course I'm stoked about getting to see Ezra tomorrow. I've started on his room. This is just so much fun. Ali (our newest roommate) will help me with the nursery some. I want to do The Giving Tree Theme. I got this idea from my sister in law who threw us a Giving Tree Themed baby shower. I picked the smallest room in the house for little Ezra b/c he's just a little guy- not needing too much space. Plus, the ministry will still need to make some money off the guest house after his arrival so we need as many beds/rooms as possible. His room will be very simple. The boys put his little dresser in his room and I put some diapers in the top drawer. Wow... this is really beginning to feel so real! He's REALLY COMING! :)

The last couple days we were home, Chris and I were privileged to get to spend 2 days at a marriage conference by Gary Thomas. IT.WAS.AMAZING. I knew absolutely nothing about it nor did I know who Gary Thomas was, but I found myself interested in going to it. I said something to Chris but prefaced it with "I know we probably won't have time with it being the day before we leave, but I'd like to go." His response was "REALLY? I didn't know you wanted to go! I do too. So let's go." I'm so thankful we did. We both believe so strongly in marriages... GOOD ones... HEALTHY ones. There was a time in the weekend that Gary had us go and pray with our spouse. Chris and I went off and sat in front of one another. I think all we did the whole time was just cry. I could feel and hear my my man crying. WE ARE JUST SO THANKFUL!! Thankful to be together; thankful to be in ministry alongside one another; thankful for this little boy; thankful that God chose us to be his parents though we are least deserving of this privilege. I'm still in awe and STILL wake up and say "I'm pregnant? Seriously?!?!"

Tuesday

So I forgot to post the above blog yesterday. Sorry! And now I have pictures!

Chris and I got our tour and we decided to forgo the "executive suite". It's just a little bit more posh and I don't think we'll have that many visitors any how. Let's be practical... and save some moolah! I'm fine with a regular ol' room. So is Daddy and Ezra. But I must say that I got into the elevator and my eyes began to water. I totally hid it from Chris b/c I feel like I just cry all the time now. After I gathered myself, I softly said "I'm scared." Chris said "I'm not going to leave you for one second." That's not why I'm scared. I know he won't leave me. It's just seeing all that stuff- the baby bed, labor bed, O2, buckets, and much more- just got things feeling.... a bit more real. I know, I've seen it 100 times working in hospitals, but still- it's just freaking me out a little.

THEN....
....we went and saw our little boy one last time before his big arrival. It will be worth being scared, I'm sure of it.

First of all, I will say that all is well with Tiny Tubby Thompson. I was right... it's not a lot of fluid... it's A BIG BABY! The MD that did his U/S said "Well, he could come any time and I think he'd be okay!" haha! He is measuring a few weeks ahead of our due date. He weighs just over 5lbs now (at 32.5weeks) and the MD was laughing when he turned the U/S to 3D. He said "He has some chubby cheeks!" Well, if those aren't the cutest chubby cheeks I ever did see. Gosh.... I just cannot wait to see him!

Those are THE sweetest lips I ever did see!
Okay, these next 3 make him look REALLY tubby!

32 weeks, kinda...

We went to the doctor this morning and she checked me out. Everything seems to be well- BP was good, Heart Rate and even Ezra's! This is the first time she has been able to find his heart rate, which was 128, because he's been so active. She told me, before measuring, that I am "very large for 32 weeks". Yes mam... I am aware. Then she measured me. I am measuring 36 weeks by the size of my uterus. At my 25 week check up, I measured 29 weeks- so that is consistent. She ordered another scan and put under the Reason section: "Uterus measuring greater than EDD (Estimated Due Date)."
Weight: I got back on her scales (which are the ones I've gone by since 17 weeks) and I've gained about 15.5kgs which is about 34 lbs. In the US, I was having to convert the kilos to pounds and I was on different scales. I was sort of freaking out a little, b/c I thought it was close to 40lbs at 30 weeks. But 34lbs at 32 weeks doesn't seem quite as bad. MAN! So I COULD have had 2 cookout milkshakes instead of the 1 I had! She said his head is still down and his back is on the lower right side. She asked if I knew which body parts were which and I told her that I had no clue what parts I was feeling. She told me where his knees, ankles, hands were and explained the movements. SO COOL! I loved it!

Back to the ultrasound- We left her office a little after 12 and the office at the hospital where i get my scans done is closed for lunch from 12-2pm. We HAD to go grocery shopping for the boys and get the food to them.

When we got back I could not believe how big my wallace was. Check this out!

I took these the day we left. It's hard to tell his size the way he is laid out and I just thought the other one was hilarious- the way he was sleeping with his head upside down like a smile!

This is Wallce today! And he's not even 8 months old!
