Beauty For Ashes...

"...beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor." Isaiah 61:3

Das not funny Friday...

On this weeks episode of "Das not funny": (Actually it was a while back...)

We were struggling with some fleas at first with our new little dog Shaggy.  She came to us from some missionaries leaving Kenya.  She's so darn ugly, she's cute! (I personally think she is beautiful!)  Any way, I didn't know what to do about her fleas.  I had already been to our version of a Wal-Mart in search of something to rid her itchy little friends.  We already tried to "dusting powder" at the house and it just wasn't working.  So I found a little whole-in-the-wall grocery store and figured they might have something different.
I asked an employee:

Me: "Excuse me, do you know where I could get something to get rid of fleas?"

Him: "Oh yes.  You need doo doo cream."

Me: "Oh no... just something to get rid of fleas... for my DOG"

Him: "Yes madam.  We have the doo doo"

Me- disgusted: "Sir... I don't need doo doo.  ME NEED MEDINCINA... FOR DOG... TO KILL FLEA"

Him-frustrated at me:  "hold on madam.  I will return"

Apparently "du-du" is an insect.  He was trying to tell me I needed some insect cream for the dog.  I bought it b/c I felt sorry for him and all his time I wasted.  We used it.  It worked. Shaggy is happy.  Me... I'm just happy that i learned a new swahili word. Unfortunately, it was the hard way.
